I do not know the answer to the second question to Eric & Sookie, because I have not read the earlier books. However, with respect to your first question, I think that Sam wants to, because it seems the only person who is not overwhelmed by it and the "One That Got Away" in his head. He 'has nothing to do with so much money as a personal vendetta, that seeks to solve. We have more information will come from their relationship in the last 3 episodes, so we expect a deeper understanding of their inspiration may have, but otherwise is the theory that I'll go with you. Cool show, right?

Maryann about Sam is worried because he had missed his Daphne once said something in episode 7 or 8, and I do not think that Sookie and Eric will be the liaison for this season, but you never know the consequences of this season -3 -- Season 2 is only for book 2 undead in Dallas

more detail in Book 4 of the deaths in the world, Eric and Sookie, but his account and precipitation, and Eric has a problem, I will not spoil for you

Sam is the only person who escaped from MaryAnn. It was intended that a sacrifice for his god, Dionysus, or "The God who comes" which is another name for them. She tries to kill him and he primarily as victims. And what Eric and Sookie, instant messaging until the fourth book, but there are intimate moments, when his bill was and is no longer such a problem, who knows.
